Who is writing this?

In our country, people can freely say what they think- But maybe they should sometimes also think about what they’re saying. – Unknown

Welcome to my blog!

Well, that is exactly what I am trying to do- make you think, as I like to make myself think about essential, everlasting as well as current issues and questions. Thinking is always a good idea- and the World’s greatest thinkers have influenced our modern world more than anyone who used to be in power. But who am I? (what a philosophical question in itself :-) )

Instead of introducing myself the normal way, let me tell you what is relevant about me in order to read my blog:

I am a female. That indicates that I, in some way or another, I must care about women’s rights, which is why i will likely discuss them at one point or another.

I am a young person. That means that I will likely have some idealistic ideas of what the world should be like. So don’t be surprised if you stumble upon dreamy ideas of world peace or radical views on things I do not approve of- it is (still?) in my nature- and I hope it will remain.

I consider myself a Secular Humanist. This means that I support absolute separation of Church and State, and that my approach of understanding the world is influenced by the ideas of enlightenment, secularism, humanism and evolutionary theory/science. This includes criticism of very conservative, theocratic or other religious attitudes. I think that my thoughts on… blog will therefore be interesting for you if you seek provocative inspiration to think and argue.

I want you to wonder. As I am very opinionated (which I am when I feel informed well enough about a certain subject), I will let you know what I think- as this is the idea of my blog. I provide you with “news”, but I will promise you- I will be biased! You are free to disagree.

Please have fun with this- I will try to combine funny/positive and serious/negative topics, so you can be surprised each week.

Enjoy my biased rants!

“You may say I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the World will live as one.” – John Lennon, Imagine

Sorry in advance, but while reading the words of J.Lennon I thought of the words of Luice King he said that he was a dreamer too, and after “someday you’ll join us” I do not why but: Where to join? in grave? (Speaking about black humor)

Thanks for your numerous comments, Marat!
It’s funny you say the grave thing… in a sense I get what you mean, because one thing is for sure:

the minute we are dead, we are most peaceful. There will be no wars and no greed or violence once humanity has died out- well, at least that’s what you and I are convinced of, as we don’t believe in an afterlife ;) .

Maybe humanity will need to die out before there will be anything like “world peace” or some other ideal- but I like to think otherwise.
      (even though I don’t always do so! :-) )

    Hello Laura,

I have stumbled across your thoughts with interest ;-)

    A few comments:

“….in my nature- and I hope it will remain”

    I hope so too!

“….as we don’t believe in an afterlife”

I believe a great man once said that “energy can never be destriyed, only transfered from one form to another…”

The understanding of the difference in WHAT we are and WHO we are, is certainly a starting point for me and those around me.
